Cannabis flower at The Set Los Feliz.

Flower is the dried, cured bud of the cannabis plant and the product most people picture first. Here is how to choose it with confidence. For today’s exact selection and prices, check the live menu.

What you’ll find

Our flower comes sealed from licensed California producers. Retailers in California can’t repackage cannabis, so the jar or pouch you take home is the one the producer filled, labeled and lab-tested.

Most flower is sold in pre-weighed packages. The eighth (3.5 grams) is the most common size, and many brands also offer larger packages. Every package shows its net weight in both grams and ounces.

Reading a flower label

  • Total THC (%): flower is labeled with Total THC as a percentage. The figure combines THC with THCA, which turns into THC when heated (Total THC = THC + 0.877 × THCA). California allows the label to differ from the lab result by up to 10%.
  • Terpenes: some labels list top terpenes, the compounds behind aroma. They can appear only if the lab report confirms them.
  • Packaged date: useful for freshness, since aroma fades over time.

Our label guide walks through every part of the package.

How to choose

Start with aroma, not just THC

A higher THC number doesn’t mean a better or more enjoyable product. Many people find it more useful to compare aroma and the terpene list, then remember which products they liked. Our terpene guide explains the common ones.

Treat indica and sativa as a loose hint

Packages often say indica, sativa or hybrid. A 2022 study of nearly 90,000 U.S. flower samples found those labels didn’t line up with the plants’ actual chemistry. See what the labels really mean.

New to flower?

The state’s safe-use brochure suggests that new consumers consider flower under 20% THC. Take a puff or two, then wait before having more.

How much you can buy

Adult-use customers can buy up to 28.5 grams of non-concentrated cannabis, such as flower and regular pre-rolls, per day. Medicinal patients have higher limits. Our team will let you know at checkout if an order goes over the limit.
